The Encyclopaedia of Musical Science and Technology (EMST) is the electronic edition of a collection of theoretic and practical articles on all aspects of the musical acoustics, organology and musical instrument building.

• Topics include acoustics, materials, dimensions, decoration, ergonomics, technology, manufacturing tips, etc.

• History, iconography, musicology are also appropriate if related to the design or construction of the instruments more than to the music produced with them.

• The encyclopaedia is not devoted to music theory and music performance except in their relation with the instruments.

• No commercial ads, not even 'advertorial' within the Encyclopaedia. There is a separate section for a list of materials and tool suppliers and to other sites with related information.

Authors and readers

The Encyclopaedia is committed to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of content on the principle that making knowledge freely available supports a greater global research and knowledge.

The Encyclopaedia is continuously growing. You are invited to participate with reviews, corrections or new articles. Or sending your doubts and questions.

This is not a site only for professionals and literati. Newcomers and amateurs are very welcome.
